The Forge Cantina
As The Forge grows as a world music venue with events such as The Cuban Jam, Fiesta at The Forge, Lapa in London, London Tribes and Viva Colombia, so has the food offering.
Working closely with the South and Latin American promotors and artists of these nights, The Forge has developed an authentic menu of delicious filled arepas from Venezuela, Cuban sandwiches, feijoada from Brazil, yuca fries, plantain chips and more.
Popular among the Cuban community in Florida, a good Cuban sandwich is hard to find in London, but The Forge has perfected them. Hot pressed brioche packed with pulled pork, glazed ham, swiss cheese, fresh dill pickles and mustard – or the veggie version with roasted vegetables.
Monthly celebration of Brazilian culture, Lapa in London, always has feijoada on the menu and it is now a permanent feature of The Forge Cantina menu. A traditional Brazilian pork and black bean stew, it comes served with rice, farofa and greens with an orange salad on the side.
Not forgetting Venezuela, The Forge also serves a range of arepas; fried cornbread pockets served with a variety of fillings including shredded beef and pulled pork, but always with black beans, cheddar, guasacaca and salsa fresca.
With Peru famous for its fish dishes, The Forge had to add pescado a lo macho to their menu; Hake fillet with squid, prawn + mussels in a peruvian style tomato, onion + garlic sauce served with rice and salad.
The Forge Bar has also developed a delicious new cocktail menu to complement The Forge Cantina menu with refreshing concoctions like Elderflower Fresco and Basiliberry Kick, and fruity medleys such as Banana Colada and Very Berry Daiquiri.
