100 Wardour Street

Former Floridita saves the dinner dining experience for Latin Wednesdays

Wednesday nights in Soho aren't always guaranteed to be vibrant but this restaurant positively dazzled. 100 Wardour Street is the new incarnation of what was Floridita, however despite the rebranding they have retained a bit of Latin flare with their signature Wednesday Latin Nights. From 8pm onwards you can select from their set Latin Menu, while you enjoy a live Latin Band. The Club plays host to a series of musicians, including Cuban band Kandela Mi Son as well as London based Venezuelan producers Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel.

Alongside the live performances, you are able to book a table for dinner with a glass of champagne and a 3 course menu devised by their head chef Liam Smith Laing.

For starters we had ceviche, beautifully tempered although it could have been accompanied by a little more Leche de Tigre as well as the delectable soft shell crab served on a bed of guacamole. This was followed by pork belly, which was faultless and served with beautifully crispy crackling. A more robust salsa verde would have not gone amiss but by this point my champagne had arrived, the band had started playing, the atmosphere was amazing, and so it was hard to complain too much. The triumph of the menu came in the form of our pudding, for me an imaginative wafer-thin translucent pineapple carpaccio, a dish I feel was made to be instagrammed. My guest had salted caramel profiteroles with I quote, "The best pistachio ice cream I've ever tasted," the food is outstanding value at £30 for 3 courses which includes a glass of Moet.

However, this place isn't really about the food (as great as it is) it's also a fab people watching spot... we dined with a few of the glittering 'Made in Chelsea' crowd sat next to us.

In England it's not common you see people gladly stand up and salsa, but here it was the norm to see people take to the dance floor between courses (which we did as well!)  With the enthralling live music it was almost impossible not to.  Wardour Street['s executive chef Liam Smith Laing have given London an updated luxe-contemporary version of my favourite Latin food and I couldn't be happier.

Seeing so many people dancing on a Wednesday night in a gorgeous glamorous setting, 100 Wardour Street made me proud to be Latin.
