Women in the urban genre are now playing a big role in the Latin Music industry, one of these great promises of female urban music is named Mariah, "La Princesa de Miami" (Miami's Princess).

Hailing from Miami, Florida, the 20-year-old Cuban-Boricua artist was 16 years old when she got into the music industry. Discovered by the multi platinum music producer Nely "El Arma Secreta" they have been working together since. Now, Mariah Angelique Perez, the Miami-based half Puerto Rican, half Cuban is one of the new artists on the rise thanks to her 2019 hit “Perreito”.


 

She started doing music at 15 because he didn't want to go to school. Then, at 16 she ran away from home to go to the studio and start recording music. Mariah made a pair of reggaeton-cum-trap jams produced by Nely , "Blah" and "Malo" as videos. The former took off and drew attention from many record labels. She immediately began performing the club and festival.

 

 

At 18 years old, Mariah signed an exclusive recording deal with Universal Music Latin Entertainment, a complete management deal with GTS and an exclusive publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. Mariah's inspirations arise from artists such as Chris Brown, Aaliyah, Drake, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Marc Anthony, is keeping the perreo scene alive . Her sound, overall, fuses R&B, trap and the essence of reggaeton. 

She made the rounds with her Guyanaa-assisted single “Taxi,” which she debuted live on television at the 2020 Premio Lo Nuestro awards. The 20-year old artist has collaborated with Anuel AA in "Bandido", in the trapper new album " Emmanuel," the single has over four million views.

Mariah is confirmed for the Billboard & Telemundo LatinFest+, formerly known as Billboard Latin Music Week, as part of the On the Rise -- The New Generation of Urban Men and Women
