My earliest memory is attending my first concert as a child. I was eight and my parents took me to see Coldplay. It was exhilarating; the anticipation built as we entered the venue, and once the band took the stage, the energy was electrifying. Singing and dancing along with the crowd, I felt a rush of joy and freedom. It was a moment I'll never forget, sparking a lifelong love for live music.
From my parents I've inherited their resilience. Growing up, I witnessed them facing challenges with strength and perseverance, never giving up in the face of adversity. This became a part of who I am, helping me navigate life's ups and downs with determination and courage.
The most useful piece of advice I’ve been given is “Don't let fear hold you back from pursuing your dreams." I always remember these words during times of uncertainty or self-doubt. They remind me to push past my comfort zone, take risks, and pursue my aspirations with courage and determination. It’s empowered me to embrace new opportunities, even when faced with obstacles or doubts.
The book I've loved was Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice." I loved its portrayal of strong female characters, it’s exploration of love and the importance of staying true to oneself. Its timeless themes resonate with me, inspiring me to strive for greater understanding and empathy in my own life.
When I was 11, I was impacted by The Live 8 concert, I went to the massive global event in London's Hyde Park in 2005. The concerts coincided with the G8 summit, urging world leaders to address poverty and inequality. Beyond the entertainment, it exposed me to social issues and showed me the power of music and activism to inspire change on a global scale.
A game-changing album in my teenage years was, Florence and the Machine's "Lungs." Their unique sound and Florence Welch's powerful vocals resonated deeply with me, especially the introspective lyrics exploring themes of love and resilience. Songs like "Dog Days Are Over" and "Shake It Out" became anthems of empowerment during tough times. Their music remains a cherished soundtrack of my youth, a reminder of the power of art to uplift and connect us.
The biggest challenge I've faced is navigating the practical aspects of pursuing a career in music, such as financial stability and finding opportunities for growth and exposure. I've had to develop a strong work ethic, seek out gigs and performance opportunities, explore alternative revenue streams, network within the music industry, and practice patience and perseverance!
Last year I opened for Coldplay on The Music Of The Spheres tour, it was an unforgettable experience. It was an incredible opportunity to share my music with a large and enthusiastic audience, setting the stage for one of the world's biggest bands.
Success is realising my creative vision and making a positive impact through music. It involves external achievements like releasing albums and performing, as well as internal fulfilment and connection with my audience. It feels like joy, pride, and gratitude, knowing that my hard work has paid off and that my music has touched others' lives.
I love being able to immerse myself fully in the creative process of making music. Whether I'm writing new songs, experimenting with different sounds, or collaborating with other musicians, there's a sense of joy and fulfilment that comes from expressing myself artistically and bringing my musical ideas to life.
I aspire to live by the motto "You never stop growing, and growing up will always remain a mystery. In order to grow up, there are always things you must give up." Alice Rohrwacher
The inner demon I strive to conquer is self-doubt. It undermines my confidence and holds me back from pursuing my dreams., I try to cultivate self-compassion, challenge negative self-talk, and embrace my vulnerability.
My favourite question is: if you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be?
I fear being in the dark.
I believe in adventures.
