Lucuma smoothie

Lúcuma is an amazing Superfood from Peru, it’s full of potassium with bright yellow coloured flesh and tastes a bit like maple syrup! So much so that it’s often used as a natural sweetener… Lúcuma has a very low Glycemic index, so it’s a great alternative to regular sugar.

Ancient Incas called it their gold and it was their symbol of fertility and creation. Bright yellow Lúcuma Ice-Cream is still a Peruvian staple… but as you usually find it powdered over here it’s best used in smoothies. I like this cinnamon & banana combo anyways, but the Lúcuma powder adds a sweet taste and extra vitamins including Vitamin B.

Time: 5 Minutes. Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • Handfull of ice
  • 1tbs Cinnamon
  • 1tbs Chia Seeds
  • 2 tbs Lucuma
  • 400ml Almond Milk
  • 2 Banana

Method:

Add all ingredients to blender and blitz until smooth
