Pablo Egea - Outstanding Male Dance Performer
Londoners may have spotted this rising star in the West End show "Heart Beat of Home" as a flamenco soloist dancer. And its no surprise he stood out…Pablo Egea started his dance studies at the age of eight at the Conservatorio Profesional de danza de Murcia. In 2006 he joined the Ballet Español de Murcia, becoming soloist and later principal dancer. In 2010 he joined the Ballet Nacional de España and went on to work with the Ballet Español de Cuba, choreographing "Sonata" and "Solea por Bulerías" debuting at the Teatro Nacional de La Habana. He has worked as a choreographer and soloist with many Flamenco dance companies in Spain and all over the world.
Despina Violari - Oustanding Female Dance Performer
Despina had been accumulating admirers on the salsa scene for several years before getting to show off her grace and talent on the West End stage as part of the dance ensemble of 'On Your Feet', for which she is now touring the UK. She has won many competitions including the UK Tango Championship (1st place) and has held workshops all over the country partnering with Yonly Leyva Desdunes.
Mauro Caiazza and Carolina Giannini - International Dancer Performers
Mauro and Carolina combine sensuality, elegance and virtuosity; their dinstinctive sum of magical and ethereal plus discipline creates harmony. Having arrived at Tango through as classical, jazz and contemporary dance, they ended up working with the world’s most renowned companies including Tango Fire and Immortal Tango, in the most prestigious theatres. Their passion for tango led them to win Best Choreography in the TANGO AWARDS 2018.
On Your Feet - Dance Production
The story of how a child fled from Cuba to Miami to become a global superstar, had, according to judges and public, and courtesy of Sergio Trujillo and Natalie Caruncho - the snappiest choreography currently in the West End. Some glorious costumes, some spunky juvenile leads and best of all a fabulous live band on stage, pumping out the catchy and unmistakably Latin-flavoured music that anyone who enjoyed Cuban American singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio's band Miami Sound Machine - which topped both Latin and pop charts in the US and Europe in the 80s and 90s – voters found irresistible.
Cali Swing - Tropical Dance Performers of the Year
CALI SWING is a Salsa Dance School based in South London, with more than 100 dancers, from five years old. Headed by Saulo, Sabine and Carolina and specialising in Cali style Salsa dance, known for its incredibly quick floor moves and spectacular throws, their children’s group wowed audience on Britain's Got Talent. Their teen and adult groups have earned a reputation as among the leading salsa dance groups in the UK
Mykel Fonts and Sylvia Chapelli - European Tropical Dance Performers
Maykel Fonts graduated from the most famous dance school in Cuba, La Tropicana, where he studied ballet, modern and contemporary dance, afro and rumba. Sylvia Chapelli was also born in Cuba and was educated in contemporary and modern dance as well as traditional and folklore dance. Sylvia was a part of a dance team on national Cuban TV and of The Rakatan ballet company. Both live in Italy. Judges commented on how “Maykel and Sylvia were exceptional dancers with nuance, beautiful form and impeccable rhythm”
